Your Job

Do you like your job? Is it your passion or what you always thought you would be doing at this time of your life?

My answer would be no. I have a great boss, but I am not challenged at my job and didn't realize how I would never seem to get used to waking up early....5 years, still waiting

I love it.....

Did I think I would be doing this? No.

But I sure enjoy it!

Yep,
I have had thoughts on going out on my own, but for the most part, I have been very fortunate. I work for an ethical company that has grown from $30 million when I started to over $2 billion today.

My family is very comfortable and secure, and at 31 years old, feel pretty good with where I am at.

There are things I cannot stand about where I work, but I firmly believe that would be the case anywhere.
Being in the same field for 19 years says it right there. I love doing what I am doing and am glad I choose it, just wished it paid better.

But what if you love your career, but not where you are at? The environment at my place of employement is so hostile that the turn over rate in the last 5 years has been over 100% of nearly 50 employees. Even after 19 years, I am about ready to go back to school and get a teaching degree or something similar.
There are a lot of pluses to my job:

#1. The fact that I have a job that supports me!

convience
comfort both with what I do and how I can come to work with no preparation with hair/makeup, etc...

All jobs in the "real world" are about equal to me; can't see anything I'd like more though plenty I would like less...

I never thought in a million years that I would be this happy with a job. Everyone I work with is great, income is great, many incentives to do better (higher commission %), paid for all inclusive vacation when you reach a certain # of sales, for the most part I work out of my home, set my own schedule, wake up when I want.

Probably the only negative thing is that I have to take care of my own benefits, which really isn't a big deal. Instigator (Steve) hooked me up with insurance and I have my own retirement plan (investment properties) along with my 401k from previous job.

Well 12 years with my company, I guess I like it! You think my 401k would be huge by now! <_<

My job challenges me everyday! I am heading to the Tech Center next week, opening up a brand new office in the VEC bldg...a little nervous but very excited about this new challenge! Wish me luck!

I'm w/ Jere on this one....
I really like working w/ people, making my own hours etc-
STILL haven't adjusted to working on commission.....especially now that I'm single-
When I was married my income was supplemental...now it pays the bills-

I hate having to pay for my own benefits- first time ever

w/o insurance currently because I can't afford it yet...........also working w/ Instigator on that.

I love my job. It's not my passion, but I enjoy it.

I have a great boss, work with a great group of people, can't complain about my hours and time off I receive through out the year, including my normal vacation time. $$$ could be better, but I'm blessed to have found something I don't mind doing every day.
It pays the bills... and keeps food on the table and a roof over my head. I guess if work was fun we wouldn't get paid for it. Like every other job it has good points and bad. I can't seem to find one that would pay me for drinking beer and boating so guess iam stuck.

Although I am unemployed, I have a couple jobs.

As a child, I never in a million years expected to be a teacher or even go to college, let alone teach at a college. I love it, it is exactly where I would like my career to be. We'll see how staffing goes there though. Hourly rate is higher than I would ever imagine. It's just that 2.8 hours a week isn't enough.

Owning my own company is what I eventually expected. Not having to do with boats though. That's great too. People pay me to crawl around and look at boats. How cool is that?? I used to do it for free all the time just to do it. Pay is also very well during the boating season.

Unfortunately, I don't either one of those two are enough to support myself and Cassie at this time so I still need to find a decent paying job outside of those things.

that you have seen in the 2000 auto show & all over the world. H2 & chevy SSR.

dunhams was just a place to work on people skills & get my sporting goods @ a lower price. but i still enjoyed that job as well
I HATE MY F****** JOB!

I work for a boss that is usually good to me, but ony in attitude. When it comes to $$$ I think he still has his communion money! Although he has no problem with giving me more responsibility at the drop of a hat and assigning blame to me when things go wrong in the shop, it has been 2 years since my last raise. Wait, make that 1 year; last year when he increased my health insurance bennefit deduction from my check at a rate of .50 per hour, he gave me a .25 raise. This year that deduction went up another .25 per hour with no increase to my wage. I have two employees that can never get along with each other and once in a while they like to take their frustrations out on me.

If I could do sprinklers year round, I would quit tomorrow! I've been looking for something else for the last 6 months now. I'd like to find something like working for a DPW in a county or munincipality. Or better yet, some kind of handy-man job; property management for an old folks condo complex or something like that.

Don't like what I do or where I do it. For years I told people if they didn't like their jobs they should quit and find something else to do, and I did that alot. But when retirement approaches and you are making decent money (no decent raises, though) it's tough to start over again.

If you are working at a job you really love, enjoy it while it lasts. I have had some but they generally disappear when management changes, the company is sold, and so forth. One thing is constant - Nothing Stays the Same! Of course, bad times can turn around, too. If my current boss would quit, my situation might improve greatly.

But I'm definitely not doing what I dreamed of. I wanted to be an artist of some kind, illustrator, animator, cartoonist. But I am a damn computer programmer, staring at a PC all day and sitting in a little cube. Man wasn't made to live like this.
