Hey did anyone do any good over the weekend? Took my son out both days. He didn't see one deer!!

Took my 14 year old son out on his first deer hunt. We hunted state land in Sanalic County on a damp Saturday morning. 30 minutes after day break a doe comes out about 40 yrds. A direct miss! After checking for sure we settled back in and about an hour later a nice 6 pt. sneaks in behind us. A great shot! Glad he missed the earlier doe. It was great. This was nothing like opening day of the regular gun season when you see a lot more people then you do deer. We were the only ones out there. This is a great oppoptunity for youth hunters. I was so proud!

fraku congrats to your son on the hunt. Did he get to field dress it himself? Got any pics?

rerun, being his first time I had to field dress,with his help of course. The look on his face from that wonderful smell was priceless. I do have some good pics if I only knew how to post them....
